Best Recipe for Winning Deviled Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 8 slices white bread
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 slices pepper jack cheese
  • 2 cups Winning Deviled Ham, recipe follows
  • 1 pound smoked ham, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup prepared mustard
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (recommended: Tabasco)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Butter each slice of bread on 1 side. Put 4 slices of bread, butter side down, into a large skillet. Top with a slice of cheese and 1/2 cup deviled ham. Place another slice of bread, butter-side up, onto each sandwich. Cover the skillet, put it on medium heat, and cook until the bottoms are nicely browned, about 5 minutes. Turn the sandwiches over and cook until the bottoms are browned, about 3 minutes. Serve while hot.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth. Use as a sandwich filling or spread on crackers for a snack.
