Best Recipe for Sauteed Shrimp with Caraway Seeds

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound large shrimp (about 15)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 3/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Accompaniments: lemon wedges
  • wilted red cabbage with balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  1. Shell shrimp. Mince garlic and with a mortar and pestle coarsely grind caraway seeds. In a 10- to 12-inch heavy skillet heat oil over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking and sauté shrimp, stirring, 2 1/2 minutes. Add garlic and caraway seeds and sauté, stirring, until shrimp are just cooked through, about 30 seconds more.
  2. Serve shrimp with lemon wedges and cabbage.
