- Special equipment: Gift tag Waxed twine Recipe card 2 pieces balsa wood or mat board, 11 1/4 by 3 1/2 inches Clear cellophane wrap Double-stick tape Ribbon, 1 to 2 inches wide
- Empty the oranges out of the crate. Put 5 oranges in a single row back into the crate along 1 of its long sides. Do the same on the opposite side. Place 1 piece of balsa wood or mat board alongside each of the 2 rows of oranges, creating an empty center section between the rows of oranges. Fill this middle section with chestnuts. Cut a piece of cellophane to wrap around the width of the crate. Use double-stick tape to fasten the cellophane on the underside of the crate. Tie a ribbon around the crate, and add a gift tag. Include a recipe for roasting chestnuts. You can print out the recipe that follows on heavy paper, cut it to recipe-card size, and slip the card under the ribbon.
