Cheddar Apple Skewers

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard
  • 1 tablespoon regular or low-carb maple syrup
  • 4 ounces sharp Cheddar
  • 1/2 large apple, like Gala, Macoun, or MacIntosh

Instructions

  1. Special equipment: 8 wooden skewers
  2. Whisk the maple syrup and mustard in a small bowl.
  3. Cut the Cheddar into 8 cubes about 3/4-inch square. Core the apple but leave the peel, cut into 8 even pieces. Thread a piece of apple and a cheese cube onto each skewer.
  4. Serve the cheese skewers with the mustard sauce for dipping.
